The OnPoint Spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees, celebrating the drive and personality of individuals on our team. It’s one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.
This week’s employee spotlight is on Jessie Dykes, Teller Operations Supervisor at our Scappoose Branch. She was born and raised in Oregon. She enjoys all activities that require outdoor activities, like camping, hiking, boating, ATV riding, skiing, etc. The Oregon Coast is her happy place. Jessie is a huge animal lover and will always ask to pet your dog if she sees you in public. She has always loved owning and collecting plants. Recently, she took up gardening.
Here’s what Jessie had to share about her life and time at OnPoint:
What were you doing before joining OnPoint or taking on your current role?
Before joining OnPoint, I was a Barista for about four years. While working as a barista, I also went to school and attended Kansas for one year to play softball. At first, I was driven to be on the platform as a rep. As time went on, I came to my senses and realized that I enjoy helping, teaching, and guiding not only our members, but my coworkers! This shifted me towards the teller coordinator and teller operations supervisor leadership roles. As long as I am here, I aim to lead by example and always be dependable. OnPoint as a whole functions as a community that supports one another. We have many resources that allow us to provide the best service possible to our members!
If you could be an animal, which would you be?
A house cat for sure. The independence, the sass, the naps. It can’t get better than that.
If you have pets, what kinds and what are their names?
My fur babies are a huge part of my life. I have one dog—his name is Scout, and he is a 3-year-old German Shorthair Pointer. He is the biggest goof and lover boy. I also have two cats—Ellie and Auzzy. Both are equally stubborn and lovable.
What was your favorite TV show growing up?
FRIENDS! And it still is one of my favorites! At this point in my life, I have seen each season 10+ times. It’s one of my comfort shows.
What was the best concert you’ve ever attended?
I have always loved attending concerts. At this point, I have been to so many that I can’t recall the exact number. It would be tough to pick one concert as my favorite, but some would have to be Kings of Leon, Cody Johnson, Stevie Nicks, Quinn 92, and The Black Keys.
What’s the one piece of advice you would give others about life?
Life does not need to be serious 24/7. Learning to drop your shoulders, relax, and enjoy the moment is so important. Take that trip, do that thing that excites and scares you, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
