KGW School Supply Drive—Supporting Students and Teachers

KGW School Supply Drive 2020

The start of the school year is a time of new beginnings, with even more students returning to the classroom. There is much anticipation and excitement. Meeting new teachers and reuniting with friends in person will come with big emotions for many students. On top of reestablishing in-person relationships, some students will be concerned about having sufficient school supplies. Access to a backpack, pencils, notebook paper, erasers and glue sticks is an essential part of back to school—yet for many families, purchasing new school supplies can be a financial strain.

This summer marks the 14th year OnPoint has been supporting the KGW School Supply Drive. As we assist our children’s return to school, we understand that this year will present many challenges for students—no matter what form classes take in the fall. Half of the students in our community begin school lacking the necessary supplies to thrive. In 2020, supplies were distributed in more than 75 individual school districts to more than 22,000 students.

Make your donation at an OnPoint branch

From now through September 2, OnPoint will accept school supply and monetary donations for the KGW School Supply Drive at any of our branches. A $25 donation sends a student back to school ready to learn with the supplies they need. Want to maximize your donation? From August 9 to August 14, for every $1 donated at an OnPoint branch, we will contribute an additional $5. This means if you donate $25 during that week, our match will turn your donation into $150—providing supplies for up to six students.

Acceptable school supply contributions include backpacks, colored pencils, composition, books, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, loose-leaf notebook paper, markers, pencils and pens. Like previous years, all monetary and supply contributions will stay in the community in which the donation was made.
