OnPoint is excited to celebrate International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) on October 17, 2024, which will mark its 76th anniversary. This year’s theme is “One World, ” which celebrates the mission of creating One World Through Cooperative Finance.
Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. The day allows all of us to reflect upon credit union history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference.
For OnPoint and many other financial cooperatives, this day is a time to share and celebrate our members and our mission to provide financial support and guidance. Credit unions are recognized as a force of positive economic and social change and have provided significant value in both developed and emerging nations worldwide. Credit unions are also an integral part of the communities they serve, opening the doors to people of all economic levels, helping members build credit, and supporting local programs integral to the community.
OnPoint will be celebrating during the month of October and we encourage our members to participate in our Credit Union for Kids by donating at a local OnPoint branch. Through October 31, members can make donations from their OnPoint accounts to provide critical funds in support of Credit Union for Kids. In addition to member donations, OnPoint will be making a $10,000 donation to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, on behalf of our debit and credit cardholders.
Folks can also help spread credit union awareness by participating in the OnPoint ICU Day social media contest from 10/17 to 10/29. Find more details about the social media contest here.
Join us in our branches on October 17 to enjoy a sweet treat and celebrate ICU Day.
OnPoint continues the traditions and philosophies of credit unions by focusing on efforts to improve our local communities. OnPoint’s commitment to serving the community stretches beyond our business walls and includes ongoing corporate partnerships, charitable giving directed by an employee-managed committee, and employee volunteerism.
We look forward to celebrating International Credit Union Day with you this year!
