On Tuesday, May 2 OnPoint begins its celebration of National Teachers’ Day to honor our legacy and educational roots. This early May celebration offers communities the chance to come together to honor local educators and acknowledge the crucial role they play in making sure every child receives a quality education. As a credit union founded by teachers, it’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate with our members.
OnPoint was originally founded in 1932 as Portland Teachers Credit Union. Sixteen schoolteachers gathered to create a safe place to save their money and to provide low-cost loans or those looking to build a better life. With our legacy, OnPoint continues to recognize and appreciate the contributions that educators make in the communities we serve.
In honor of this special day, we invite you and your family to visit any OnPoint branch on May 2 to help us celebrate! Cookies will be available at every branch for our members to enjoy. You can also say “thank you” to a special teacher in your life by picking up and completing a Teacher Appreciation Certificate. Students can simply share why they appreciate their favorite teacher and then hand-deliver the certificate in time for their school’s Teacher Appreciation Celebration.
We look forward to celebrating our local teachers with you!
