At OnPoint, we’re committed to standing with great organizations that serve the community we call home. We’re excited to announce our Spring Refer a Friend campaign. Until April 30, when you refer a friend, family member or business associate for membership and they join in, we’ll give you $50, we’ll give your friend $50 and we’ll donate $50 to Cascade AIDS Project (CAP). Now is a great time to tell your friends and family about your experience as a member of OnPoint!
Founded in 1983 and incorporated in 1985, CAP is the oldest and largest community-based provider of HIV services, housing, education and advocacy in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Since its beginning with a staff of two, CAP has grown to include a staff of over 75 and operates with the support of over 600 volunteers. We are proud to partner with CAP and advance its mission to empower all people with or affected by HIV, reduce stigma, and provide the LGBTQ+ community with compassionate healthcare.
Those with HIV and AIDS face a huge emotional and financial burden. Imagine what it must be like for someone who suddenly finds they are without the essentials we so often take for granted. Sadly, some people with HIV lose their jobs, their housing, their friends and family, and all means of support. CAP is there for these individuals by providing shelter, life skills training, and emotional support. In 2018, CAP provided support services to 1,014 people living with HIV and helped enroll 478 individuals in health insurance.
One recent CAP client said, “I really appreciate how my case manager and peer support person have empowered and encouraged me to succeed and thrive with and without CAP’s assistance. Bottom line, they have met me where I am each and every time without judgment and because of that, my life is improving. CAP was a major factor in changing and saving my life.”
