The OnPoint Spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees, celebrating the drive and personality of individuals on our team. It’s one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.
This week’s employee spotlight is on Cynthia Cabrera, a Teller Operations Supervisor at the West Salem Branch. She is a dedicated mother of two working on creating the best life for her family. She enjoys being a home body for the most part and spending as much time as possible with family.
Here’s what Cynthia had to share about her life and time at OnPoint:
What were you doing before joining OnPoint or taking on your current role?
Before joining OnPoint, I worked retail as a full-time sales associate/backup manager for three years. In my four years with OnPoint, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various roles—I started as a Teller, moved up to a Branch Service Specialist and Teller Coordinator, and now, I am a Teller Operations Supervisor. Joining OnPoint has been one of the best choices that I’ve made. Nothing has made me happier than being part of a team with so much respect and one that values me as an employee and human. It’s been a pleasure being a part of the OnPoint family!
Who inspires you?
My mother and my children inspire me. Growing up watching a strong single mother get through life has taught me that I can make it through anything that comes my way. Having my two beautiful children has given me all the strength and power that I’ve needed to get through every day. They motivate me to be a better person and to work hard to give them the life they deserve.
What excites you so much that it keeps you awake the night before?
Family vacations! There is nothing more exciting than taking time off to travel and see new places.
Do you have a favorite board or card game?
UNO! Every day after dinner we sit as a family and play for an hour or so until it’s the kid’s bed time. It’s been a great way to spend quality time together.
Where did you grow up? Where else have you lived?
I was born in Toppenish, WA and moved to Woodburn, OR as a child. I spent most of my life growing up in the Salem/Keizer area.
Who was your most influential school teacher? Why?
Mrs. Shiffer, who was one of my middle school teachers. She was the most loving and encouraging teacher. She was like a mom to many of us and never let me give up. She helped me get through some challenging moments in life.
