The OnPoint Spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees, celebrating the drive and personality of individuals on our team. It’s one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.
This week’s employee spotlight is on our Teller, Keyla Orellana. I am a passionate person who loves to assist our members with language barriers as the SW 5th & Harvey Milk Branch has been increasing our Hispanic new member base, Group Banking outreach, and Youth Savers accounts.
Here’s what Keyla had to share about her life and time at OnPoint:
Before joining OnPoint, I worked part-time at Umpqua Bank, which was my introduction to retail banking. As a Teller there, I gained valuable skills that I’ve brought with me to OnPoint, helping me work more efficiently.
Since joining OnPoint, I’ve been impressed by the dynamic and fast-paced environment. The best part of working here is seeing how much our members genuinely love being part of the OnPoint community. I’m constantly learning from my team, and I hope I’m able to share valuable insights with them as well.
If you were a crayon what color would you be?
RED—this color has the characteristic to make me feel confident.
What is the one thing in this world that you are most proud of?
I am so proud to be a single mother who came to this country with nothing. Now, I have built a life with amazing friends, a job I love, and the privilege of helping so many members of OnPoint Community Credit Union. It’s truly rewarding to see families opening new accounts and exploring new products. On top of that, I officially became a U.S. citizen in January 2025!
Who is your favorite super hero?
My superhero is my mom. She was a strong woman who showed me, through her example, the value of hard work, faith, and perseverance. I dedicate all my achievements to her.
What’s the coolest experience you ever had?
The coolest experience I’ve had so far is learning Italian and living in Italy for a year. It was an incredible adventure.
Do you volunteer anywhere?
Yes, I currently volunteer with Share Home ORG. They do great work providing affordable housing for all Oregonians.
