Employee Spotlight with Whirlyn Schoeffel

The OnPoint Spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees, celebrating the drive and personality of individuals on our team. It’s one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.

This week’s employee spotlight is on Whirlyn Schoeffel, Branch Service Specialist at the Hawthorne Branch. Whirlyn grew up in the Philippines and moved to Hawaii in 2019. In 2020 she and her husband decided to move to Portland.

Here’s what Whirlyn had to share about her life and time at OnPoint:

What were you doing before joining OnPoint or taking on your current role?

I received a bachelor’s degree in Financial Management and was a teller at a credit union in Kona, Hawaii. When I joined OnPoint, I started as a Teller at the SW 5th & Harvey Milk Branch and was later promoted to Branch Service Specialist. I moved to the Hawthorne Branch in 2022. Kudos to the Hawthorne Branch team for helping me grow and guiding me!

Do you have pets?

We have three cats, and their names are Bjay, Heidi, and Lola.

What is your favorite season?

Fall is my favorite season because I love to see the colors change.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?

I love watching Korean Dramas. I am currently watching See You in My 19th Life and King the Land.

What was the best concert you’ve ever attended?

My Chemical Romance last year here in Portland.

How would you describe your team in one word?

AWESOME.

What do you enjoy most about working at OnPoint?

The amount of support from everyone! There have been many opportunities to excel and learn about the industry. It’s been a bonus for me living and working in the same community and being able to help those that live in the same town as me.
