The OnPoint spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees and takes a closer look at the drive and personality of individuals on the OnPoint team. It is one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.
This week, we are excited to spotlight Greg Neil, Retail Support Officer. Greg joined OnPoint in 2014 as a Teller and has held several positions since, including Teller Coordinator, Branch Service Specialist, Member Service Representative and Member Relationship Officer.
Here is what Greg had to share about his life and experiences at OnPoint:
Tell us a little about yourself.
I have been married to my best friend and wife, Kelly, for nearly five years. We have a beautiful baby girl, Conley, and a 4-year-old Golden Retriever named Axl—he is the talk of the neighborhood and is always the first to greet anyone who walks through the door. I enjoy watching sports, spending time with family, watching movies and relaxing when possible.
What were you doing before joining OnPoint?
I previously worked for Blockbuster Video and Dick’s Sporting Goods. I was excited to come to OnPoint and make an impact on the community and our members. I love the role I’m in now, which allows me to connect with teammates in platform positions. My role also gives me the opportunity to provide my team with effective retail practices and enrich their knowledge—which brings me great joy.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a Retail Support Officer and to provide insight and resources for successful engagement. My partner Treena Surratt and I collaborate well and have great aspirations for the future of this department.
Who inspires you?
My dad inspires me constantly to work to be a better version of myself. He has provided unconditional support and guidance, and I have enjoyed growing as an adult with him in life’s journeys. I am always in awe of how he highly regards the three pillars of life: physical, spiritual and emotional, and focuses on their strong foundations. He’s been an amazing father, coach and friend.
Do you have a favorite board or card game?
I love to play board games and card games as often as possible! They make for great entertainment, and from simple to complex, they are always a great way to pass the time. My favorite board game is Ticket to Ride. It has the perfect blend of complexity, competition and anxiety as you complete your destination routes.
What is your favorite travel spot?
While I am not a world traveler, I enjoy what the State of Oregon has to offer. I love spending time with my family in Sunriver on our annual trip, as well as time at the coast.
Do you volunteer anywhere?
I have volunteered through OnPoint at various events such as Oregon Food Bank. I currently volunteer with my alma mater, La Salle Prep, on the Alumni Board and have previously been a volunteer coach there and with Lake Oswego Youth Football. I have enjoyed the opportunity to give back to my high school through coaching and now, with the Alumni Board.
