The OnPoint Spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees, celebrating the drive and personality of individuals on our team. It’s one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.
This week’s employee spotlight is on Erin Koff, Member Service Representative at the Bend Downtown Branch. Erin grew up in Bend, Oregon, and has lived there nearly her entire life. She and her husband will have been married nine years this September. She enjoys traveling, appreciates art in many forms (performing arts, photography, painting, drawing, and ceramics), reading, and concerts.
Here’s what Erin had to share about her life and time at OnPoint:
What were you doing before joining OnPoint or taking on your current role?
I started my career with OnPoint in June of 2017. I worked in banking for nearly five years before joining. A few of OnPoint’s many draws were our community involvement, caring for members and employees alike, and becoming part of a team that encouraged and valued camaraderie and collaboration.
I have worked at the Bend Downtown Branch for the entirety of my career. Over the years, we have had strong leadership at the branch, inspiring my personal and professional growth. I am thankful to have a team I can count on, who are like a second family.
Who inspires you?
My dad inspires me the most! About two years ago, with no warning, he had a catastrophic stroke. Within a day, he was robbed of being able to speak. Now, two years later, with the help of his speech therapist and our constant practice, he is making incredible progress. His speech therapist says I missed my calling; I’m not sure about that, haha! Although progress is slow-going, he is miles from where he was. He was very well-spoken prior to his stroke, and when some may have given up, he has been persistent and driven towards recovery. I can only hope if the same were to happen to me, I could parallel his resilience, determination, and positivity!
If you have pets, what kinds and what are their names?
I have a cat named Rocket. I have grown up around cats my entire life, and Rocket is the most loving, spunky, sassy, chunky one I have ever met. Does he love the camera, or does the camera love him? It’s hard to tell!
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
There are so many shows! I love documentaries and true crime with some reality TV mixed in! A few recommendations are Maid, Rotten, Broken, The Tinder Swindler, The Circle, Don’t Pick Up The Phone, Squid Game, Laguna Beach, and The Hills. I need some comedy in my life!
Have you ever had anyone throw you a surprise party? What was it for?
My husband and his side of the family threw me a small surprise birthday party. Perhaps the most shocking and hilarious part was receiving the same birthday card from my husband and his sister. Everyone knows I am a cat lover!
What do you enjoy most about working at OnPoint?
I enjoy the unique opportunity to work with members through their ups and downs and significant life events, taking the good with the bad, losing loved ones, retiring, buying a new home, welcoming a new baby, and seeing their kids grow up. Most careers don’t allow you to learn and grow with the members you help.
