The OnPoint spotlight is an ongoing blog series that highlights our employees and takes a closer look at the drive and personality of individuals on the OnPoint team. It is one way we show our appreciation for their hard work and achievements while helping our community get to know the people who make things happen here at OnPoint.
This week’s employee spotlight is Marion Marshall, Member Relationship Officer at the Salmon Creek Branch. In 2008, Marion joined OnPoint as a Member Service Representative. Marion is celebrating her 10th anniversary of helping OnPoint members in the Vancouver area and we’re incredibly grateful for her many years of service.
Here is what she had to share about her life and experiences at OnPoint:
Tell us a little about yourself.
I have worked at OnPoint for 10 years and have been in banking for about 35 years. I have lived in four states; I was an amateur equestrian and I love to barbeque all 12 months of the year. I love the scenery here in the Pacific Northwest. There just isn’t anywhere else I would rather live!!!
What were you doing before joining OnPoint?
I was not working at the time and had just returned from a three-week trip to Thailand with a close group of friends. That trip was their last overseas adventure and was quite a memorable one. Thailand is such a wonderful country with an amazing culture!
What is your favorite travel spot?
This is a tough one as I have visited 16 countries (not including repeat visits) and every destination has its unique wonders and beauty. That said, I would have to say the Yucatan, Mexico. Ancient civilizations pique my interest and I have been to most of the ruins. I even had the chance to visit the sites before they started restricting areas from access by tourists.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I love tie-dye! I have a collection of tie-dye t-shirts that are all different. I have more than enough to wear every day.
Do you have a favorite board or card game?
Yahtzee. It is my husband and my go-to game when camping. We totally unplug and relax.
Do you have any pets?
I have three rescues: Charlotte, a lab mix, Scoutie, an orange tabby cat, and Side Pocket, a black and white cat.
What are your career aspirations?
It’s been a great journey to this point. I’m happy where I am now and am looking forward to eventually retiring! I started as a Teller in my 20s in Southern California and have had a very fulfilling career. I do not have a specific date in mind for retirement as I love what I do here at OnPoint. When I do retire, it will surely be a bittersweet experience. This is such a great team and the relationships I’ve created here will continue even after I leave.
What is something you would like to share about your history with OnPoint?
I have worked in the Vancouver market for 10 years. OnPoint hires the best of the best! I really enjoy working with everyone I have met here. Our management team is super supportive and is continually a positive influence on all of us.
